Three cake recipes to prepare at home and ideas for decorating them

Honey cake

If you want to prepare a delicious cake for a family birthday, you can try this very flavorful and tender honey cake recipe.

  • 250 grams of butter
  • 400 grams of sugar
  • a cup of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 4 eggs
  • 400 gr wheat flour
  • 1.5 kg cream
  • 100 g crushed walnuts or hazelnuts

How to make honey cake

Choose the pan in which you will mix the butter, with 200 g of sugar and a cup of honey. Mix everything over medium heat until the ingredients are completely melted. Then you can also add the baking soda, stirring quickly, until you see foam starting to form in the pan. Let everything simmer for a few minutes, until the foam changes color.

Remove the pan from the heat and let the entire composition cool for half an hour, stirring from time to time. The next step is to add eggs on top of this caramel composition. Mix well and add flour gradually, until you get a thick, yogurt-like dough.

The dough is poured into two large oven trays lined with parchment paper and left in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 180 degrees.

At the end, they are cut with a knife so that they are straight and left to cool, until the cream is ready.

For cream, mix cream well, with remaining sugar and vanilla essence. You can also add whipped cream and ground walnuts to the cream, or you can save it just to decorate the cake.

The top is then smeared with cream, and covered with another sheet. This whole process continues until all the upper parts have been assembled. In the end, you can also cover the sides of the cake, but also the top, to coat it completely with cream. For decoration, you can use walnuts or hazelnuts, or you can even add candied fruit or orange slices. The edge of the cake can also be grated and used to decorate cakes.

Oreo cookies are a great idea, especially if you want to quickly prepare a cake for your loved ones without using the oven.

  • 3-4 eggs
  • 700 gr wheat flour
  • 400 grams of sugar
  • 1 vanilla essence
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 300 grams of butter
  • a teaspoon of salt

How was the preparation?

The first step is to prepare the cream, for which you need to mix 800 ml of liquid cream with 200 g of sugar. Everything is then placed on the stove, over low heat.

Meanwhile, you can mix the eggs in a larger bowl with 100g of flour and vanilla essence. It is important to mix well so that there are no lumps. Then add the eggs and the remaining melted cream.

By the time the composition on the stove has begun to boil, the egg composition can also be poured, mixing everything continuously. If it has thickened, it means it is ready and can be removed from the heat and allowed to cool, covered with plastic wrap. Finally, it can also be mixed with a mixer, to get a more airy texture.

For the top, mix the remaining sugar with 600 g of flour, cocoa powder and salt. Then, gradually add the melted butter and mix well, until all the butter is absorbed. This composition is then placed in a frying pan, where it is allowed to fry, over medium heat, without oil. Everything is periodically mixed for half an hour. And in the end, the resulting composition will taste like crushed Oreo biscuits.

The resulting crumbs are divided into 4 or 5 parts, and then put one by one in a round baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Each of the tops of the crumbs is covered with cream in turn, so that in the end, the last layer of uncreamed cocoa is on top.

Coconut cake

Coconut cake is a real treat, as it is very aromatic and sweet. In general, it is ideal for a New Year’s party, but it can also be prepared for a family birthday.

  • 300 grams of butter
  • 700 grams of butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 x vanilla essence
  • 350 gr wheat flour
  • 250 gr grated coconut
  • 250 ml coconut milk
  • 250 ml cream
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons of water
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup

How was the preparation?

For this cake, you will need three round trays of the same size, which you can grease with butter or line with parchment paper.

Then, with the help of a mixer, you will mix the butter with 400 g of sugar, until you get a fluffy texture. Then, you will alternately add the eggs, flour, vanilla essence, and coconut milk. The entire composition is divided equally among three trays, and they are placed in a hot oven, at 175 degrees Celsius, for half an hour.

The next step is to prepare the cream, in which you need to mix 150 g of sugar, 240 ml of cream, 4 tablespoons of milk and coconut. You can even use a mixer to make the whole cream as smooth as possible.

Once the tops have cooled, you can start assembling them, placing the cream in the center, which you can spread with a spatula.

In the end, you should prepare the glaze, mixing 100 g of sugar, a spoonful of corn syrup, a teaspoon of salt, 3 spoons of water and 2 egg whites. Prepare the glaze in a bain-marie kettle, and mix the entire composition for 5 minutes. At the end, vanilla essence is added, and the glaze is poured warmly over the cake.

You can use coconut flakes to decorate the cake, but you can also add some raffaello candy to turn the whole cake into a “snowball”.

If your family’s birthday is just around the corner, you can now be inspired with the recipes above to prepare delicious cakes for your loved ones. Simple and delicious!
